Where to go and how to find Gold

By: / Feb 23rd 2016.

With Kanye West recently declaring that he is in 54 million dollars of debt, we thought it would be a good idea to educate everyone on how to find gold.

Because lets face it, if Kanye West can be in debt, we all can be.

Lets start with the basics. What is gold panning?
Gold panning is, as you can guess, the process of extracting gold from placer deposits (that is, mineral deposits). Typically done with a sluice, a pan, and a sifter. Think back to the Alaskan Gold Rush, because that's exactly what they used to do!

How does that work?

Well, the pan is designed to let particles with a low specific gravity fall out of the pan, while keeping particles and minerals with a high specific gravity sink to the bottom of the pan. That makes it easy for you (the gold miner) to collect some gold. So yes, you are in fact a gold digger.

Where to find Gold

The Penny Hoarder has a great little guide about where to go to find gold! But I'll briefly tell you the overview
  1. Reed Gold Mine, North Carolina.

  2. Big Thunder Gold Mine, South Dakota

  3. Jamestown, California

  4. Dahlonega, Georgia

  5. Crow Creek, Alaska

  6. Alabama Gold Camp, Alabama

  7. Colorado Gold Adventures, Colorado

These spots are basically guaranteed to help you strike gold.

That's great and all, but what does it actually take to do this?

What you'll need
